Fit-to-NZEB workshop in the framework of CLIMA 2019, 28 May 2019, Bucharest
A joint workshop of Fit-to-NZEB and iBROAD projects in the framework of the biggest event in the world of HVAC, dealing with deep energy retrofit specifics - construction skills development being a major topic. 
2nd Bulgarian NZEB Conference, 30 May - 31 June 2019, Burgas
Conference, exhibition and training courses at one place, gathering the construction community to think about policy interventions and market development needed to facilitate action NZEB introduction in the construction practice. A major event for the country with guests from China, Hong Kong, Austria, Czech Republic and Slovakia confirming their attendance.

The BUILD SMART workshop at MADE Expo - the biggest construction fair in Italy - design and conducted by Fit-to-NZEB and attracting a huge audience. Great experience and well-deserved public celebration of a successful project!
Horizon 2020 Energy Efficiency Info Day, 22 January 2019, Brussels 
Train-to-NZEB and Fit-to-NZEB presented as successful practices by projects' coordinator Dragomir Tzanev in front of a 400+ audience interested in new ventures in the Horizon 2020 programme.

A marquee event  in Bulgaria, this time focusing on NZEB issues among other interesting topics

The Future of the Bulgarian Housing Sector, 16 November 2018, Sofia,
Joint conference of UNECE, the Ministry of regional development and the Bulgarian Real Estate Association to take place in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, Bulgaria. EnEffect is an official partner and will take active parts in the discussions, arguing on the need to streamline professional education as a part of national housing policies.

Train-to-NZEB final project meeting, Prague, 16-17 October 2018 
Train-to-NZEB held its final meeting in Prague, looking to streamline the marketing and communication activities in the countries for the months until the end of the project, as well as to prepare for the final reporting and dissemination of the results. A number of topical issues are discussed, including the development and implementation of blended training approaches and the Train-to-NZEB app. An added value of the meeting is the organization of a Fit-to-NZEB project meeting immediately after, which will strengthen the relations and exchange between the teams but hopefully open new collaboration opportunities. 
First National NZEB Conference, Burgas, Bulgaria, 20-22 June 2018
The conference marked the signing of the first support programme for NZEBs projects of Bulgarian municipalities, designed under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area. A highlight of the event was the planned exhibition for construction companies, manufacturers and distributors of building materials, components and products that presented the latest technological and design solutions for nearly zero-energy and passive buildings. Train-to-NZEB was a major headline at the event, as a training for municipal experts, designers and construction specialists was be carried out as part of the accompanying program, gathering more than 35 participants.

We told you we'll still the show... But really, when you are a good trainer, there is also a good chance of being able to put a nice workshop together:) Among nearly 30 parallel sessions and workshops, Train-to-NZEB won the awards for most interactive session and best facilitation at the #C4EForum. Congratulations to Wolfgang Hasper, Horia Petran, Jiri Karasek, Alexander Genchev and moderator Dragomir Tzanev for making a good concept work and for spreading the word about our beloved project in front of the best possible audience, representing the energy efficiency community in Central and Eastern Europe.

9-10 March 2017, Munich, Germany: Train-to-NZEB "Nodes 18" workshop
Train-to-NZEB hosted a prominent event in the course of the 22nd International Passive House Conference in Munich, Germany held on 9 March 2018. The event was opened by Janna Schoenfeld (EASME) and Dr. Josef Hochhuber (Bavarian Ministry of Economics) and featured short presentations by Dragomir Tzanev (Coordinator of the Train-to-NZEB Project, EnEffect) Wolfgang Hasper (Passive House Institute), Susanne Winkel (Passive House Institute), Univ. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rainer Pfluger (University of Insbruck), Sabine Stillfried (IG Passivhaus Deutschland), and Giorgia Tzar, (the International Passive House Association). Acknowledging the results already achieved by the project, the event promoted its concept and approach and strived to broaden the BKH network, using the global outreach of the Passive House community. The International Passive House Association, with more than 1000 members around the world,  shared its ideas and offerings on networking from global scale to the region. PHI-accredited Course Providers were also among the audience, as well as representatives from universities and training providers. A distinct interest from China was also evidenced - are we to expect a surprise in the view of the next Passive House conference in Gaobeidian?
20-21 January 2018, Prague, the Czech Republic: Train-to-NZEB project meeting and participation at the IngREes final conference 
Train-to-NZEB holds its regular meeting in Prague, looking to foster the exchange between partners and to streamline the marketing and communication activities in the countries for the months until the end of the project. A number of topical issues are discussed, including application of practical training exercises and demonstrations and development of blended training approaches. An added value of the meeting is the participation at the IngREes H2020 project (http://www.ingrees.eu/en/about-project/) final conference, not only strengthening the relations and exchange between the teams but also opening new collaboration opportunities. 
9-10 October 2017, Kyiv, Ukraine: Train-to-NZEB peer review meeting and TTT session 
Train-to-NZEB goes to Ukraine, where the peer review project meeting will be combined with a basic Train-the-Trainer course, as already happened in Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. The events was hosted by MDI and the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, as it is expected that national outreach in terms of involved trainers will be achieved. The Train-the-Trainer session will be conducted by trainers from Passive House Academy and Limerick Institute of Technology (Ireland) and Passive House Institute - Darmstadt (Germany), with the active involvement of the local team.
20-24 November 2017: Save-the-date for Second European Vocational Skills Week in November!As last year, Train-to-NZEB will take part in the initiative under the motto "Discover Your Talent" - encouraging continuous training at all stages of life, with a strong focus on the importance of quality and excellence in VET. These topics will also be addressed:

  • mobility of VET learners (of all ages) and quality apprentices,
  • partnerships between businesses and VET providers,
  • sectoral approaches to address skills mismatches,
  • response to rapidly changing skill needs.
6 July 2017, Brussels, Belgium: DG Growth Construction Conference: Let's Build Changes 
Soon after the participation at the EUSWE, project coordinator Dragomir Tzanev had the chance to discuss Train-to-NZEB and Fit-to-NZEB at the first edition of the DG Growth Construction Conference expressively entitled "Let's Build Changes", which was honoured by the participation of Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Energy Union. Full information about the conference can be found here.
19-21 June 2017, Izmir, Turkey: Train-to-NZEB regular meeting and TTT session.
Train-to-NZEB went to Turkey, where the regular project meeting was combined with a basic Train-the-Trainer course. The events was hosted by Ege University, as it is expected that national outreach in terms of involved trainers will be achieved. The Train-the-Trainer session will be conducted by trainers from Passive House Academy and Limerick Institute of Technology (Ireland) and Passive House Institute - Darmstadt (Germany), with the active involvement of the local team.
20 June 2017, Brussels, Belgium: Train-to-NZEB presented at the EUSEW
Project coordinator Dragomir Tzanev presented Train-to-NZEB and its follow-up Fit-to-NZEB at the European Sustainable Energy Week in a joint session with SEE Change Net. The session took place at Charlemagne building, room Jenkins, at 14:00 - 15:30. Full video recording of the presentation can be found here; some pictures from renovation failures discussed - below:)
30-31 May 2017, Rotterdam, the Netherlands: BUILD UP Skills EU Exchange meeting
Train-to-NZEB was exclusively presented at the last, 10th EU Exchange meeting of the BUILD UP Skills and Construction Skills projects financed by the EC. With a strong team, consisting of Elisabeth O'Brien (Ireland), Dragomir Tzanev (Bulgaria), Jiri Karasek (Czech Republic) and Horia Petran (Romania), the project was discussed on three particular occasions during the meeting. 17 May 2017, Sofia, Bulgaria: Train-the-trainer course
Immediately after the media opening ceremony, the Bulgarian BKH hosted a train-the-trainer course lead by Arch. Susanne Winkel, Passive House Institute - Darmstadt, Germany. The course was targeted to the Certified Passive House Tradesperson and Designer schemes, which play an important role in the BKH's marketing positioning, in addition to courses developed under the BUILD UP Skills initiative in Bulgaria. 
16 May 2017, Sofia, Bulgaria: Official opening of the Bulgarian BKH
The official ceremony and media event celebrating the opening of the Bulgarian BKH, or "Center of Excellence for Energy Efficiency and RES in Buildings", took place on 16th May at 16:00 in the University of Architecture, Civil Architecture and Geodesy in Sofia (1, Hristo Smirnenski Blvd.). More pictures from the ceremony, with the participation of the Rector of the University, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Bulgarian Construction Chamber and other official guests, can be found on the Facebook page of Train-to-NZEB. 
02 March 2017, Prague, Czech Republic: The way to nearly zero energy buildings
The conference on the occasion of opening of the CZ Building Knowledge Hub was combined with an exhibition of efficient technical solutions and materials (awarded by quality mark Product - technology 2017). It was be conducted in the premises of the Architecture and Building Foundation (ABF), promising strong international participation with out colleagues from Germany, Romania and Slovakia. Apparently, the first dedicated nZEB-related conference in the Czech Republic.

02 March 2017, Enniscorthy​, Ireland: National NZEB Conference. The Irish nZEB National Housing Conference on 2nd March in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford will tackle the issue of professional training and Train-to-NZEB in particular will be presented. The conference will be opened by the Irish Minister for Housing Simon Coveney and honoured by former EP President Pat Cox - a dedicated Passive House supporter (and owner of one), and Tom Parland, head of the Irish Construction Industry Federation.

7-10 February 2017, Bucharest and Brasov: Train-to-NZEB peer review and TTT session. Train-to-NZEB moves to Romania, where the peer review meeting will be combined with a basic Train-the-Trainer course. The events will be hosted by URBAN-INCERC and FPIP, as it is expected that national outreach in terms of involved trainers will be achieved. The Train-the-Trainer session will be conducted by Art McCormack (Passive House Academy, Ireland) and Wolfgang Hasper, Passive House Institute - Darmstadt, Germany, with the active involvement of the teams of URBAN-INCERC, FPIP and BDG.

10 December 2016, Sofia, National Palace of Culture: Train-to-NZEB meets EcoDesign Pret-a-Porter. The activities in the field of vocational education and training under the projects Train-to-NZEB and BUS EnerPro were be presented during the most impressive and ambitious event for sustainable development this year in Sofia, Bulgaria- Ecodesign Pret-a-Porter, on December 10, 2016 in Hall 9 of the National Palace of Culture. Close to 150 participants took part despite the cold Saturday morning, turning this event in the largest of such kind in the country. 2-4 November 2016, Sofia: Train-to-NZEB regular project meeting and TTT session. Train-to-NZEB moves to Bulgaria, where the regular project meeting will be combined with a basic Train-the-Trainer course. Both events will be hosted by the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, where the Bulgarian Building Knowledge Hub will be situated. The Train-the-Trainer session will be conducted by Art McCormack (Passive House Academy, Ireland) and Wolfgang Hasper, Passive House Institute - Darmstadt, Germany, with the active involvement of the team of EnEffect - Bulgaria, coordinator of the project.

19 July 2016, Prague: Train-to-NZEB peer review meeting. After concluding a cooperation agreement with the established training centre ABF, the Czech Building Knowledge Hub is getting ready for the start of its activities. Project partners from other countries will have the chance to visit it at the premises of ABF and SEVEn on 19th July, learning from the experience and offering suggestions for further improvements. A special highlight of the meeting would be the demonstration of an online training module for non-specialists - one of the most expected features of the Train-to-NZEB project.

22-25 June 2016, Balchik: C4E Forum. The C4E forum, held on 22-25 June near the Bulgarian city of Balchik, staked a claim for becoming the most expected community building event on energy efficiency in buildings in Central and Eastern Europe’s. Among the most ambitious efficiency projects happening in the region, Train-to-NZEB took its deserved place and attracted strong interest from the participants in the dedicated session construction skills training. Lots of new ideas also coming up, and we are definitely interesting to be in there for the years to come... 
22-24 June 2016, Prague: CESB16. On 22-24 of June, the international conference Central Europe towards Sustainable Building 2016 (CESB16) was held in Prague, hosting 320 delegates from 48 countries of the world. T2nZEB was successfully presented by SEVEn, and a special session Education towards nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB) was organized within the conference programme.
19 May 2016, Sofia: Joint Train-to-NZEB & BuildUpon conference and workshop. The new Law on VET; our recent research on training needs and demands; the strategy and outcomes of the BuildUpon project... But most importantly: how the professionals perceive the need of trainings to deliver quality building renovations. 
25 April 2016, Darmstadt: Third Train-to-NZEB Steering Committee meeting. On the back of the International Passive House Conference in Darmstadt, Gemany, this meeting will be dedicated to the finalization of the training offer of the BKHs, giving a streamlined view on their imminent opening.
